Our
local community board has an important advisory role
in dealing with land use and zoning matters, the city
budget, municipal service delivery, and many other
matters relating to this communities’ welfare.
Victorian Flatbush comprises most of the northern half
of Brooklyn Community District #14. The Board is made
up of community residents and leaders appointed by elected
officials. It is led by longtime chairperson Alvin Berk.
The day-to-day operations
of Community Board 14 are staffed by District Manager
Shawn Campbell. They have many years of experience in resolving
quality-of-life issues and in getting city agencies
to respond to residents’ concerns.
Before contacting city agencies directly, it is often
useful to start at the community board.
