The Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC)’s 39th Annual Flatbush Frolic street fair is fast approaching! Join us on Cortelyou Road, between Ocean and Coney Island Avenues (in the heart of Victorian Flatbush), on Sunday, September 21st from 11:00am to 6:00pm. The Frolic will be filled with music, food, children rides and activities, merchandise and arts & crafts vendors and the Cortelyou Beer Garden.

Cortelyou Road Radio will run live at the Frolic Main Stage and band performances include HEYLADY, Sarah Amina, Chevy Lopez, The Lord Calverts, Ethoscope, Future Promise Cases, and Lords of 1010.  In addition to a dynamic musical lineup, we are proud to feature dance performances by Latin Fever Dance Studio and Cynthia King Dance Studio.

Families with young children are invited to visit the “Just For Kids” area at the Tot Lot Playground, hosted by Midwood Martial Arts & Family Fitness Center and FDC’s After School Programs. They will be entertained by Telephone Pioneers Clowns, Blue Lightning (young musicians 9 to 12 year old) and Lucy Kalantari and her enchanting ukulele.  Children will experience hands on science experiments with Kiddie Science and sing-a-longs with Musical Explorers and Joanne Reil.  Young Players Theater will teach improve and acting skills to all budding actors and Miss Wendy will lead an engaging Pre-School Storytime.   FDC’s after school program will host fun craft projects, creative play and an All Ages Hula Hoop Competition.  All children can participate in kids’ karate, gymnastics and yoga mini-classes with Midwood Martial Arts Instructors.

Special Events within the Frolic are the Cortelyou Wine & Beer Garden (hosted by Sycamore and The Castello Plan) and San Remo’s pizza eating contest.  You can challenge your chess skills against the P.S. 139 Chess Ninjas.  Be sure to visit the FDNY’s Mobile Fire Safety Experience, or “Smoke House” trailer.  Children and adults have a chance to enter the Smoke House – which is filled with artificial smoke – and practice fire evacuation techniques. The 70th Precinct’s Crime Prevention Officer will have Operation ID on site.  Bike etching and cell phone registration is a free service provided to protect your items.

Local businesses are coming out to share the wears, talents, food, and drinks, so come see what Cortelyou Road is famous for. Win a raffle prize and check your blood pressure at Greenfield Pharmacy or design a kid’s T-shirt with Brooklyn Industries.  Enjoy food and drink available from The Farm on Adderley, Flatbush Food Coop, Connecticut Muffin, Purple Yam, Ox Cart, Picket Fence and Natural Frontier Market. Strum a vintage guitar at Bar Chord; make paper flowers with Grace Eyecare and so much more.  And don’t forget to check out the non-for-profit area featuring information about all of the programs that FDC and other local organizations have to offer.

The Flatbush Frolic is sponsored by Flatbush Development Corporation, Flatbush Food Co-op and Midwood Martial Arts and Family Fitness Center.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 21th.

This event is not to be missed.   Frolic with us!
