Flatbush Frolic Celebrates the Cultural Richness of the Neighborhood!
Sep 15, 2025Flatbush’s biggest community celebration is back. The annual Flatbush Frolic returns to Cortelyou Road on September 21, bringing with it a full day of food, music, art, and local pride.
Since the mid-1970s, the Flatbush Development Corporation has hosted the Frolic, which now attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year. The street fair will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., filling Cortelyou Road between Ocean Avenue and Coney Island Avenue with over 200 vendors, live performances, and activities for all ages.
Food stalls, arts and crafts booths, rides, and music stages will transform the avenue into a lively festival ground. Visitors can expect everything from steel drum bands and Mexican folk dancing to sets by local rock groups, along with a wide selection of cuisines representing the neighborhood’s cultural mix.
According to Nina Leonard, FDC’s Economic Development Program Director, the Frolic showcases exactly what makes Flatbush unique: its history, its diversity, and its strong sense of community. She added that this year’s lineup of vendors and performers reflects the neighborhood’s cultural richness and vibrant spirit.
“Flatbush is just extremely special and very unique in the way that it has such a rich cultural significance, from the rich Caribbean community to the Victorian homes that people will see on their way to the festival,” she said.
