The Kingsborough Community Center is a vibrant, community-driven space dedicated to uplifting youth and families in a safe and brave environment where every voice is seen, heard, and valued. Serving participants from neighboring schools and housing developments, the center provides inclusive programming designed to reflect the interests, needs, and lived experiences of the community.
While the center may be small in size, it is mighty in its impactâcreating meaningful connections and transformative experiences for all who walk through its doors.
At its core, the program empowers young people to build confidence, navigate challenges, and develop healthy coping skills in the face of peer pressure and everyday obstacles. Through a holistic approach, participants are supported not only academically, but socially and emotionally as they grow into confident, capable individuals.
The Kingsborough Community Center offers a wide range of engaging activities for both youth and adults, including cooking, poetry, theater, dance, mentorship, high school and adult workshops, educational trips, and community engagement opportunities. In collaboration with community partners, the center creates meaningful experiences that foster creativity, connection, and personal growth.

Cesar Hernandez | Program Director, Cornerstone
Cesar serves as the Program Director of the Kingsborough Cornerstone Community Center, a role he has held for the past two years. His journey into youth development began during his upbringing in the Marcy Projects, where he faced significant challenges before a pivotal referral to the Urban Dove program shifted his path. That experience instilled a sense of purpose and possibility, supported by mentors and educators who recognized his potential. He began his professional career with Urban Dove, quickly advancing into leadership roles, and later continued his growth with organizations such as University Settlement and Wingspan Arts, becoming a director at 23.
Cesar takes pride in his ability to build meaningful relationships with young people and cultivate environments where they feel seen, valued, and empowered. His leadership approach emphasizes collaboration, strengths-based development, and a balance between empathy and accountability. He is committed to equipping youth with both academic support and essential life skills. Outside of his professional work, Cesar is passionate about storytelling through content creation, acting, and filmmaking, aiming to elevate the voices of the communities he serves. As a father and partner, he remains grounded in his purpose to expand access, opportunity, and support for youth, helping them realize and pursue their full potential.
