COMPASS P.S. 315/152 School of Science and Technology

Where Respect is modeled, Inspiration is ignited, Students are sheltered in a safe space, and every child is encouraged to RISE.

Empowering Youth Beyond the School Day

At P.S. 152/315, our Afterschool Program is a vibrant, enriching space where students are inspired to learn, create, and grow beyond the school day. Grounded in our Youth Department’s vision to RISE, we are committed to helping every young person thrive in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Through RISE, we instill the values of Respect, Inspire, Shelter, and Encourage in everything we do. We create a culture where students feel respected and heard, are inspired to reach their full potential, are supported in a safe and nurturing space, and are encouraged to take risks, grow, and succeed.

Our program offers dedicated homework help and academic support, ensuring that students build a strong foundation for success.

Beyond academics, youth explore their creativity through art and cultural activities, express themselves through music, and engage in hands-on STEM experiences that foster innovation and critical thinking.

We also prioritize community and connection by hosting engaging events and maintaining strong family engagement. By partnering with families, we create a network of support that uplifts every child and strengthens our entire community.

At P.S. 152/315, after-school is more than just a program—it’s a place where students are empowered to RISE, build confidence, and develop the skills they need for lifelong success.

Program Leadership

Alicia Knight | Program Director, COMPASS

Alicia Knight’s career with FDC began in 2016 when she joined the PS 152 team as a counselor. Her reliability, work ethic, and willingness to pull her sleeves up to get the job done earned her the promotion to assistant director in October 2020. She excelled in her position and quickly became an indispensable part of the PS 152 administrative team. The knowledge she has gained by working alongside Wilma, the skillset from her former career as an NYS certified teacher, and her dedication to participants and families of 152/315 made her the best candidate for the position.
