Free Community Movies & Special Events on Cortelyou Road on Saturday 7/11 & 7/18!

Join FDC Saturday July 11th for a free showing of Back To The Future and Saturday, July 18th for E.T. at 8:30pm on the corner of Cortelyou Road and E17th Street. This event is BYOC (bring your own chair or blanket). As part of DOT’s Weekend Walks  Cortelyou Road will be closed to traffic from E17th Street to Coney Island Ave. Special Events Include: – Free popcorn will be provided by the Flatbush Food Co-op –  Outdoor dining at various Cortelyou eateries – A bounce house for kids from 6:30 – 8:30pm leading up to the start of the movies – Live performances from Latin Fever On2 – Haircut specials from Junior’s Barber Shop (they will set up a few barber chairs outside and do special designs for kids). – Brooklyn ARTery is sponsoring a caricaturist from 5-7pm – Cortelyou merchants will set up displays and merchandise outside on the sidewalk from 5 – 8pm – On July 18th Jr. Bella’s Pizza & Pasta will be providing an appetizer sampler – Share your photos with us at #MyCortelyou and #FDConline This event is sponsored by: Assemblymember Jim Brennan Dr. Lois A. Make Music New York

Now in its eighth year, Make Music New York, “the largest music event ever to grace Gotham” (Metro New York), is a unique festival of free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City, all on June 21st, the first day of summer.  From 10 in the morning to 10 at night, musicians of all ages, creeds, and musical persuasions — from hip hop to opera, Latin jazz to punk rock — perform on streets, sidewalks, stoops, plazas, cemeteries, parks and gardens.
