After School PS 152 and PS 315

Learn to be Successful Adults

“In order to be great adults, we need to know how to be and how to function appropriately throughout childhood. Everything we do in this afterschool program is based on that foundation.” Wilma George, Dir. FDC Compass

Understanding this concept at an early age will help a child successfully navigate adulthood. It is clear that every action of the 14 counselors is for the children, providing a nurturing, fun, and educational environment that can help them reach their full potential. It is also apparent how much passion and care the staff members put into this program. The program flourishes due to the teams’ innate ability to establish strong relationships with the children and their school community. Activities are especially created to encompass both educational and social-emotional components.

Throughout the school year every child has the opportunity to participate in activities that promote their academic acquisition and enhances their importance of self-awareness.

Alicia Knight
Director

Alicia Knight’s career with FDC began in 2016 when she joined the PS 152 team as a counselor. Her reliability, work ethic, and willingness to pull her sleeves up to get the job done earned her the promotion to assistant director in October 2020. She excelled in her position and quickly became an indispensable part of the PS 152 administrative team. The knowledge she has gained by working alongside Wilma, the skillset from her former career as an NYS certified teacher, and her dedication to participants and families of 152/315 made her the best candidate for the position.
